Panorama

Delta Marsh is a large inland freshwater coastal marsh located along the southern shores of Lake Manitoba. It has been recognized as an Important Bird Area and includes two provincial Wildlife Management Areas. It is an important spring and fall staging area for waterfowl and other waterbird species. The primary habitat types include permanent lakes and bays, submerged channels and creeks, and emergent vegetation. Wet meadow areas are seasonally or temporarily flooded throughout the year, with sedges and grass species dominating the wet meadow area and providing habitat for a variety of species. This site supports large numbers of waterfowl at several critical stages in their life cycle such as Charadrius melodus.
