Overview
Grand Codroy Estuary. 27/05/87; Newfoundland; 925 ha; 47°50'N 059°18'W. Provincial No-Hunting Area. One of the most productive of Newfoundland's few estuarine wetland sites. The site includes of four islands, intertidal sandbars, and mudflats supporting rich growths of Zostera, surrounded by cultivated grassland. The Zostera beds are an important food source for up to 3,000 fall staging Branta canadensis. Other waterbirds occurring in large numbers include ducks. There is a seasonal visitors' center.
