Overview
Lac Dziani Boudouni. 09/02/95; 30 ha; 12°21'S 043°45'E. A crater lake and one of the few freshwater lakes in the Comoros. Limnological characteristics of the site and upwellings suggest subterranean volcanic phenomena. The ancient lake may have some connection with the ocean. No large animal species are found, but a diverse bird population is supported. Ramsar site no. 717.
